The assault happened Monday night in the area of Compton and Wilson streets.
Kingston Police are looking for a suspect in an assault that occurred in the north end of the city.
They received a call Monday night around 9:45 pm about someone lying on the ground in an area around Compton St.
Officers along with paramedics located the individual in a laneway between Compton and Wilson streets.
Investigators say the victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries that appeared to have been caused by an edged weapon.
They say the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators say the suspect fled before officers arrived and there is no description available.
They do believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
