UPDATE 3:53pm: The Quinte Loyalist is now running as a temporary ferry for walk-on passengers only between Marysville and Kingston. No vehicles can be carried at this time. Priority boarding is given to passengers needing assistance.

The Wolfe Islander IV ferry remains out of service due to ongoing mechanical problems, leaving commuters and residents facing travel delays. The ferry has been tied up at the Kingston terminal since Monday as mechanics work to fix an electrical issue, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) said.
Diesel generators at the Marysville terminal continue to malfunction despite being rebuilt, and the charging system is still being troubleshooted, according to Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu. Engineers are investigating the root cause, which appears to go beyond normal wear and tear.
Crew shortages have also affected operations as of late. The MTO is implementing a new training program and a temporary crew initiative to address staffing challenges.
A temporary replacement ferry is being brought in from Amherst Island, and social media posts show a small Glenora ferry heading to Kingston. The ministry said updates on service restoration will be shared as soon as they are available.
Service disruptions are expected to continue into the afternoon.
