Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is marking National Volunteer Week, to call for adult volunteers to support its year-round programs, especially as student volunteer numbers drop for the summer.
The hospital is currently recruiting caring community members to help with administrative tasks, patient support, and wayfinding services.
Volunteers are a key part of the health-care team and help improve the patient experience at KHSC’s sites.
There are 70 different types of volunteer roles available, each tailored to a person’s skills, experience, and availability. Schedules are flexible, with options for weekday, evening, and weekend shifts ranging from one to four hours per week.
KHSC has also updated its application and orientation process to make it easier for new volunteers to get started.
